How Rosie's Cakes started

It started with a cake...

Many years ago I baked a cake. It was a novelty cake for my little boy's birthday. The icing was a bit skew whiff & the figures looked a bit disgruntled, but it was then, that I discovered my passion for cake decorating!

As a young whippersnapper, my favourite subject was always Art. (It still is!) Through the years I've worked as an embroiderer, a waitress & as a First Contact Officer for the Civil Service. But my soul yearned for a creative outlet...

I made a novelty birthday cake for my son & it didn't take long for the requests to start flying in! With all the attention I attracted with my cakes for family & friends, I decided to turn my hobby into a career.

With a natural creative flare & love of all things Art, combined with the immense feeling that putting a smile on peoples faces brings, I worked on honing my skills, self taught myself with every book I could lay my hands on & practised until my cakes were worthy of you lovely handsome lot's special occasions!

My hobby cake page on Facebook turned into a business page, I trained for & accquired a Level 2 Award in Food Safety & Catering, registered my property as a food business & set up shop!

As part of the ongoing dedication to bring you the very best in cake decorating, I registered for the ABC Level 1 course in Cake Decorating, which I passed with a Distinction. I have since also gained the ABC Level 2 Award in cake decorating.

My property has been inspected by the Food Standards Agency & has been awarded the Maximum Food Hygiene rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I have taken part in the Yorkshire Craft Bakers competitions in association with Sheffield City College & have been given the following Awards:

• Very Highly Commended Award in the Fenwick cup Marzipan Model Category 2013

• 3rd Place in the Skelton Memorial category for Marzipan work (Handmade roses on a plaque) 2013

• Very Highly Commended Award in the Fenwick cup Marzipan Model Category 2014

I also thank you for letting me be involved in your special occasions by providing personalised, quirky designs that are close to your loved ones hearts & love the thought that something I have created may put a smile on someones face!
